It has been such a long time since I did acrylics, so I thought I'd come back to it. This was painted last week; I have only just gotten round to varnishing and photographing it today.

'Cause MULEs need naps, too~

Did a little doodle today of MULEs Cosmic (@voidoutbt's OC) and Franc (my OC) taking a bit of a nap, while some cryptobiotes hang around having a bit of fun. 

I got a little story behind this little piece. At some point earlier today at work, I got so sleepy that I started nodding off in front of my work station so much that I had to pull away. The last thing I wanted was to be caught dozing off at my desk -- which had happened to me a fair few times before -- so I went to get hydrated and walked around the office a bit, all while thinking I could just take a nap. 

That was when this image came into my head, of Cosmic and Franc just taking a nap and cuddling something -- for Cosmic, their George the Shark plushie and for Franc, Sam's boot (yes, he has a thing for Sam's boots). And then, this little picture happened.

MAY 2022 SKETCH WRAP-UP

 

 

May Sketches are here! Okay definitely, more Norman Reedus, cos why not? I've gone on to try a few more new faces, including Florence Welch of FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, Oliver Jackson Cohen, Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton, Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron and also... my mom (for Mother's Day).

Also, one particularly interesting experience with one sketch in ink. It' the fourth one from the top, the one with what seems like a faint X over it. Ink is hard, and I get extremely nervous when I start it off without pencil. So yeah, I got really nervous and screwed up Norman Reedus' face and just... X'ed it.

Fortunately for me (although I can't remember why), I posted this on Twitter, and one of my mutuals suggested a fix. I took that advice and voila~ It got fixed, and not too bad too.

And also not forgetting, Bryan Dechart as Connor from DBH (to celebrate DBH 4th anniversary), Kojima in his new jacket that he got from his friend Nicolas Winding Refn, and ending the series for the month, several portraits of Florence as well.

I promised myself that I would take my time with this one. That I'd just do the sketch for today and then I will eventually do it over the weekend.

But no. I ended up staying back a little longer at work to finish it because I wanted to see how it would turn out.

And here it is.

Also, this piece is inspired by the 2nd movement of Chopin's 2nd Piano Concerto, hence the title.

The concept for this piece was inspired by the final episode of LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS Season 3 - Jibaro (a personal favourite of mine) in terms of the concept, and I was also hoping that I could capture the look of the episode, too.

However, as I went along, I realised, I was using a lot more blues and greys than I thought I would, resulting in something that, mood-wise, reminded me so much of a scene from the Netflix WITCHER series.

After a while, I thought I'd spruce it up with a bit of red -- cos I didn't think having only blue and grey suited the picture.

Ultimately, it sort of worked out. Not exactly as how I had initially pictured in my head, but I'm quite satisfied with what I managed to create in the end.

Will probably eventually revisit that concept again in the future, but with an attempt to recreate much more accurate what I see in my mind.

My DEATH STRANDING Persona/OC : Franc ( + friend )

Yesterday, I did something different from my usual stuff. During work breaks, I did some doodles and sketches of myself as a MULE from DEATH STRANDING. (I guess this is kinda like an OC that is based on me. Plus I have a name for him, too, that is partially mine. Meet Franc -- from my confirmation name, Francis XP.)

I have been thinking about drawing these for a while now ever since @voidoutbt and I started talking about the possibility of us being MULEs in the UCA, and after taking more in-game photos of the MULEs and discussing scenarios of us as them, I was finally motivated to try it.

It was a lot of fun to do! I got to put myself in my favourite uniform and live out a part of that fantasy. I guess for the face, I don't exactly look like that, but I'd like to think that I do XP

Anyways, yeah so after drawing one, I thought I had some fun with my expressions. I may add more in the future, but for now, yeah I have done my confused looked and also my oops-i-did-it-again look.

Oh and since I have been talking about this with @voidoutbt, I thought I'd make a doodle of them as one too! So here they are with me. Them being confident and mischievous-looking, while I look quite anxious and nervous at the back. So here they are: Franc and Cosmic.

And yes, I am always nervous.
