Lower Decks! Lower Decks!

A quick sketch of the Lower Decks gang, this time together with Samanthan Rutherford!

Okay I cheated a little; I turned him in a way so that I didn't have to think too much of the cyborg implant just yet -- still trying to figure that out.

Anyways, here be some close-ups for yalls.

Mid-afternoon Sketching At A Local Cafe, Animated with Rain Sounds

Mid-afternoon sketching at a local cafe, animated with rain sounds.

A little simple animation I did for my last sketch illustration. Been a while since I last animated something.

I have added music to the same video in other places. Here are the links:

Mid-afternoon Sketch At A Local Cafe

Did a bit of sketching while I was at a local café this afternoon. Was sitting by the window and it was raining pretty heavily. A guy was waiting outside -- probably for a takeaway order -- and there was so jazz music playing. It was a mood, so I thought I would try to capture it in a sketch.

The guy eventually left, though not before I managed to get everything down with some early splotches of colours, so phew! After that, spent the rest of my afternoon just refining things.

The text that I put in as a final touch afterwards is from Therru's Song (lyrics by Akino Arai and Goro Miyazaki) from the Studio Ghibli film 'TALES FROM EARTHSEA'. (please forgive me for my terrible hand-writing).

OCTOBER 2022 SKETCH WRAP-UP

Me sketches for the month of October. Quite a lot of Jack Quaid because I am still absolutely crazy about the guy, plus one of him and Erin Moriarty. Then some of Florence Welch, then of Connor -- this was spontaneously inspired by a hilarious post by a mutual on Twitter. Then, to end the month, three sketches of musicians whose works I love and support. Luke Levenson, Malingo and finally, Ryan Karazija of LOW ROAR, who had sadly passed just end of this month (Rest in love, Ryan.)

Bonus pieces. Did portraits of Jack Quaid with ink and gouache -- first time for me using this for portraits! Very interesting process and definitely gonna try more in the future.

Rest in love, Ryan Karazija.

SEPTEMBER 2022 SKETCHES WRAP-UP

Did less sketches this month, but definitely finding myself slowly leaning into Jack Quaid/Hughie Campbell -- because I have recently started watching 'THE BOYS' (finished all three seasons) and I am obsessed with it. Also, managed one portrait of Newt Pulsifer from GOOD OMENS. Dude is an absolute boi XP .

Digital sketch of Jack Quaid

Did me a quick digital sketch of Jack Quaid during work break. New fan. Absolutely love him as Hughie in THE BOYS (also an awesome show, just started not too long ago and have been watching at least one episode a night ever since. Now halfway through Season 3).

AUGUST 2022 SKETCH WRAP-UP

So it is the end of August, and here be some sketches which I have done for the month. Had me the pleasure of watching 'THE NORTHMAN' and also 'THE SANDMAN', which essentially make up the bulk of my sketches here. This was also the month I created my OC Fyoden, and I have had some sketches of his face and figure as well.

Okay, not all NORTHMAN and SANDMAN stuff. Later in the month, things get a bit more random as I jump from WESTWORLD's Lee Sizemore, to Alexander Skarsgard and Oliver Jackson Cohen, to the character shown in the new DUNE: AWAKENING trailer, before ending with a portrait of Floor Jansen seeing 'Shoemaker' at Hellfest 2022 (highlight of the concert for me).

JULY 2022 SKETCH WRAP-UP

And so another month has passed, and this month... has admittedly seen me doing quite a lot of different portraits. Okay, granted, most of them now in the early parts are Cal Kestis, but eventually I started going into other characters, some recurring and some which I have never really tackled before. (Also yes, that's sweet Steven Grant in the 3rd pic :') )

Some familiar, some not so, I'm sure. Also made a brief return to DBH after ages of not doing any fanart there too.

And the one I am proudest of (sorry to brag for a bit) is the sketch of Sam from DS taking a break. I am actually very satisfied with how I did with that one. The details were crazy tedious and I was surprised I could pull it off somehow, and I love the way it looks.

So that's July sketches! Jumping right on ahead to August now XP. See ya then~
