February 2022 Sketches: WRAP UP!
So I have been doing some sketches. A lot on loose baggy streetwear, seems like (and one of Norman Reedus in THE WALKING DEAD). The main theme? Clothing folds. Why? ‘Cos I love looking at them, and it’s a lot of fun to sketch them. Found a good bunch of reference photos on Pinterest and I couldn’t help myself from sketching them.
Having started this in the last days of February, it sparked an idea that might get me to sketch (and thereby, practice) more in the coming months.
So here is what I intend to do for myself, according to the platforms I use to show my art. On Twitter, I’ll create a thread for the sketches for each month, and as I work through the month, I will continuously add to that thread until the end of that month. On Instagram, I’ll put them up as stories and compile them into my monthly sketches highlights (there is a possibility that I need to tidy this up once in a while because I don’t think I want to have that many highlights up). I am still considering an end-of-month post on there, but still not completely sure about it yet, so I’ll think about it. And on Tumblr, I’ll do it like this, where I will create a wrap-up post at the end of the month (or in this case, start of the next month).
Yeah, probably will make full pieces of art less frequently now, but I plan to make up for that... in details. ;)

Art Break! Some portrait sketch practices
And so #JanuaryDechART is over and I feel like I need to take a break from creating art; this particular challenge had seen me push myself a little further in terms of detail execution and this somewhat exhausted me.
But I know I can’t completely disengage creatively. I thought this would be a good time for me to work on my portrait drawing skill. Well, it is one of my drawing resolutions for the year; to do more portraits and get good at them.
So here are some sketches which I did earlier today (and late last night).
Here are some of Norman Reedus -- in chronological order. There isn’t really a noticeable progression from bad to better or worse, only that each iteration just seems like a unique ‘variation’ of Norman Reedus that looks just like people who are definitely not Norman Reedus.

Portrait of HEARTMAN
. . .
I have come to a portion of the game where Sam Porter Bridges (and, by extension, the player) is finally properly introduced to Heartman in the flesh, and I have to say, I am smitten! I find myself very much attracted to this man; he is so adorably nerdy and beautiful! I can't ... I just...
Him. Just him. 💙👍+20

The End of #OctoberDechART 2021!

And Happy (Belated) Halloween! 🎃🎃🎃
#OctoberDechART Day 31: Multiverse
. . .
My final piece! A little self-insert piece, a self-portrait with me as a Bridges Porter and also me as an RK800 Android, using all the media I have used for this event. A tad bit self indulgent, but screw that, I had fun making this!
Also, that is supposed to be me, but as I look at it, it looks more like if Ken Watanabe and Patrick Stewart had a baby and that baby grew up. 😄
Here is the original scan before I added the digital bits.

#OctoberDechART Day 12: Villain
. . .
Gonna scoot on back over to ‘Detroit: Become Human’ for a while, because I need to draw this Queen. Simbi Khali as Amanda in DBH is formidable, intimidating and admittedly very scary. Despite her villainy in the game, she is undoubtedly still one fierce Queen.

#OctoberDechART Day 10: Skeletons
. . .
Partially inspired by the Drowned Giant episode in 'Love Death Robots'. I was hoping to create something that felt mildly foreboding and desolate, and had initially envisioned it as a brush pen piece, but as I went about making it, I realised that it just ended up looking very messy and cartoon-ish, and I wasn't sure how I could save it, so I re-did the entire thing and went with pencil as the medium instead.
It worked out much better that way, in the end.

#OctoberDechART Day 8: Horror Films
. . .
Decided to do something fun for this prompt. Recognise her? If not, then that means I have to work harder at my portrait-drawing skills. Anyways, here is Brenda from the hysterical classic 'Scary Movie' franchise!

Finally got to play DEATH STRANDING!
. . .
Made a little pencil portrait fan art of Sam from DEATH STRANDING. Don't mind me, I'm just really really happy that I could finally play the game and I have been enjoying myself with it, too.
Here is the little story behind it (not much, but you're welcome to read) on TUMBLR.
And here are a couple of shots I have taken while having fun with photo mode.

Tony, The Mechanic ('DEVIL' Fanart)
. . .
For today’s fan art, it is Logan Marshall-Green as Tony the Mechanic in the 2010 horror film ‘DEVIL’. Well, it doesn’t really look like him, but I think I managed to (or at least I hope I did) capture his expression from the ending, where his past crimes were laid bare before him and all he could do was let guilt consume him.
Nevertheless, fun practice!

#AugustDechART Day 27 - Maze / Labyrinth
. . .
Recently, Bryan Dechart (the actor for Connor in 'Detroit: Become Human') had posted a video of himself running through a field of corn -- a nod to a chapter in the game where Connor has to run through a field of corn to chase a deviant android. And I saw it just as I was thinking about what I should draw for the prompt, and that reminded me about the chapter itself, which had a bit of a maze motif going on. You know like... the maze drawings in the Rupert's apartment and journal, the labyrinthine chase over the rooftops... the 'maize' field at the end.
I'll stop now. :P
