Let's Get You Home, Higgs
Let’s Get You Home, Higgs
Higgs deserves better. He has only known hate, deceit, corruption and cruelty ever since he was a kid growing up under an abusive guardian. He needs lots of love and kindness, and he deserves a second chance at life, not purgatory and punishment.

Heart To Heart
I have noticed something about the game as far as Sam is concerned. Whenever people like Deadman or Die-Hardman talks about the UCA and Bridges in general, Sam shows general indifference to what they have to say. Well, granted, they are normally things which he knows himself already and has little care for after Bridges I ended.
However, when it came to the moment with Heartman, surprisingly, Sam shows quite genuine interest in what the man has to say. There seems to be quite an exchange whenever Heartman explains things to him and it’s pretty sweet.
Hence, this little headcanon where Sam might visit Heartman and hang out and just talk about stuff. I’d imagine Sam bringing Lou along as well.

Forgiveness
Some much-needed love for both of Sam’s dads, Cliff Unger and Die-Hardman. They really need their closure. The way things ended between them before Cliff was killed really did a number of Die-Hardman -- and we had the stellar scene to prove it.
Anyways, tried to make them tears on Die-Hardman -- my first proper attempt at it... Not completely satisfied, but I think I have some basis now. Just need to work on perfecting it.

It's Been A While
We seriously need more hugs between both Lou’s dads. Seriously. I still get very emotional thinking about that last hug between Sam and Deadman before Sam went off grid at the end of the game.
Here’s an alternative with Die-Hardman, ‘cos I couldn’t resist.

I Love You, You Hear Me?
A DEATH STRANDING fanart
I have finished reading Volume 1 of the DEATH STRANDING novel. It has really sweet and cool moments between characters that we never got to see play out in the game itself (probably present in the e-mails). However, there are some significant differences in several plot beats -- some of which were a little disappointing. Regardless, it was still fun to read. I’ll be pausing the story here and moving on to something else for now while I process it before going into Volume 2.
Anyways, here is a little illustration of Mama and Lockne.

Two Brothers
A DEATH STRANDING Fanart
. . .
Just Igor Frank taking a selfie with BB and his big brother, Viktor. 🥲 🥲 🥲
Reading the novel has so far opened up my eyes to a lot of things about the world of DEATH STRANDING, the most notable (at least for me) being a deeper look into the supporting minor characters of the story that the game mostly briefly brushed through.
The relationship between the Elder and Fragile’s father is one such example. Another which came earlier in the story is that of Viktor and Igor, and I find myself much more endeared to them now having known their backstory -- which makes the opening of the game all the more painful to think about now.
(Having read these now, I do low-key wish that Kojima and his team had added them into the game somehow -- but that’s just me ‘cos I like it when media make me cry with small things like this XP)
Anyways, here be a close-up of them with BB ‘cos why not?
2AM Digital Landscape Sketch
Just felt like I needed to paint something before bed last night. So here’s a digital landscape sketch.

A bit of a low mood day today, so I decided to draw something cozy and simple over lunch. Hopefully your week has been going well, so far. :)

The Elder And The FRAGILE EXPRESS Porter II
DEATH STRANDING Vol. 1
(By Hitori Nojima, transl. Carley Radford)
.
More Elder and FRAGILE Porter 'cos I love their friendship so much. Part 1 here.
More practice with the style. This one somehow seems a little more detailed, compared to the minimalistic look of the first one. Still need to balance them out.

How you doin', Sam? II

A second one, also based on a shot I took from the game.
Link to first one here.
The Elder And The FRAGILE EXPRESS Porter
Anyways, this is in an art style that is different from what I normally do, I must admit. I have been experimenting with it on other things on the side and have found that I really enjoyed working with it, so I thought I’d give it a try here.
Hope to do more art in this style in the future. ;)

Light Through The Branches
. . .
I was leaving the office one evening and as I walked to my carpark in the carpark, the sky seemed especially grand, and as I walked by some trees, the way the light shone through the branches and the way their shadows appeared on the ground really inspired me. As soon as I got into my car, I started doing a sketch on my SketchBook App to get the colours of the skies down first before I missed them, and proceeded to ink in a bit of the trees and the shadows while the image was still fresh in my mind.
I filled in the rest once I have arrived home. A slightly different vibe from my usual, I would admit. Plus, lens flares! It’s fun to paint in photography effects sometimes.

Mountain By The Lake In The Evening
. . .
I didn’t know what possessed me to do this, seriously. This ended up taking hours to finish and by the end, I wasn’t completely satisfied, only because I didn’t know if there was more to add here. Seriously, this painting was just me adding layers upon layers on. It started out as just white and grey and some blues. The yellows came next then the greens then more yellows then more green and then the browns then everything else started populating the picture, and I was afraid if I didn’t stop myself, the picture will be overcrowded.
And now, here I am looking at it, wondering if I should have added more. :’)

February 2022 Sketches: WRAP UP!
So I have been doing some sketches. A lot on loose baggy streetwear, seems like (and one of Norman Reedus in THE WALKING DEAD). The main theme? Clothing folds. Why? ‘Cos I love looking at them, and it’s a lot of fun to sketch them. Found a good bunch of reference photos on Pinterest and I couldn’t help myself from sketching them.
Having started this in the last days of February, it sparked an idea that might get me to sketch (and thereby, practice) more in the coming months.
So here is what I intend to do for myself, according to the platforms I use to show my art. On Twitter, I’ll create a thread for the sketches for each month, and as I work through the month, I will continuously add to that thread until the end of that month. On Instagram, I’ll put them up as stories and compile them into my monthly sketches highlights (there is a possibility that I need to tidy this up once in a while because I don’t think I want to have that many highlights up). I am still considering an end-of-month post on there, but still not completely sure about it yet, so I’ll think about it. And on Tumblr, I’ll do it like this, where I will create a wrap-up post at the end of the month (or in this case, start of the next month).
Yeah, probably will make full pieces of art less frequently now, but I plan to make up for that... in details. ;)
